Puffy Girls Club was founded by Shaylla Smith in 2017. She started the Instagram page as a way to encourage and uplift young black and brown girls by reaffirming and normalizing their natural crowns. There are many girls with naturally textured hair that see images of European styles as being the BEST styles, but that is not the case...our textured hair is beautiful just the way it is! It is the absolute BEST- it’s versatile, and comes in all different textures. Now what we want to clear up is the misconception that we are anti perms, or anti straightening, or anti weave. That is not the case at all! We are conveying a positive message for the love of our hair texture before the chemicals, straightening comb or weave, which allows our girls to feel good about their texture(s). At Puffy Girls Club you will see all hair textures promoted, not just the curly naturals because nappy, kinky, dense and coily are beautiful!

The biggest misconception when going natural is that one can now do their own hair without the aid of a stylist. This is actually not the case. Having a stylist improves the strength and health of your hair. They can also recommend home products based on your hair type
